DGAP-News: Ekosem-Agrar AG / Key word(s): Miscellaneous Ekosem-Agrar opens largest dairy cow facility in Siberian Novosibirsk to date
Stefan Dürr, CEO and main shareholder of Ekosem-Agrar AG: “The newly constructed facility in Novosibirsk is one of the world’s largest and most modern dairy cow facilities. We are thus setting standards in terms of efficient milk production and can almost double our milk output in the region to approx. 400 tons per day.” The Group is currently building a total of 15 facilities in seven regions of Russia, with a total capacity of around 50,000 dairy cows. All facilities are subject to the Russian government’s subsidy program with non-repayable subsidies as well as low-interest investment loans and are fully financed. Ekosem-Agrar is thus continuing its dynamic growth path to expand its market leadership in the Russian raw milk market. By the end of 2019, the dairy cow herd is expected to exceed the 100,000 head mark, with an annual milk yield of over 800,000 tons.
Ekosem-Agrar AG, Walldorf, is the German holding company of the Ekoniva Group, one of the largest Russian agricultural companies. With a herd of almost 149,000 cattle in milk production (thereof about 77,640 dairy cows) and a milk output of approx. 2,070 tons of raw milk per day as of 30 April 2019, the company is the largest milk producer in the country. The Group controls an agricultural land area of more than 554,000 hectares and is also one of the leading Russian seed producers. Stefan Duerr, founder and CEO of the company, has been active in Russian agriculture since the 80s and has played a decisive role in its modernization over the past three decades. In 2009, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in recognition of his contributions to the German-Russian Dialogue on Agriculture. The Group employs more than 12,000 people in eight regions in Russia. Ekosem-Agrar generated a total output of EUR 246 million and adjusted EBITDA of EUR 69.5 million in 2017.
