Kaiserwetter Energy Asset Management GmbH: radically new pricing model to dramatically reduce OPEX up to 40 percent at renewable energy plants
DGAP-News: Kaiserwetter Energy Asset Management GmbH / Key word(s): Product Launch Kaiserwetter: radically new pricing model to dramatically reduce OPEX at renewable energy plants – Savings up to 40 % for technical and commercial management – New payment structure: “What you get is what you pay” – With reduced operating expenses, investors will be in a better position to handle the challenges of the 2017 Renewable Energies Act – Service on Demand also available for existing renewable energy sources Hamburg, Germany, 25 January 2017 – Hamburg-based company Kaiserwetter Energy Asset Management GmbH, an independent service provider for the management of wind and solar parks in Europe, is introducing a radically new pricing model for technical and commercial management: its modular “service on demand” system. This makes Kaiserwetter the first service company to forego the generalized, percentage-based fees dependent on the proceeds from energy production that had thus far been the industry standard. “The flat fees charged for management in the past were generally too high,” according to Mr. Hanno Schoklitsch, the managing director of Kaiserwetter. “With our model, cost savings between 30 and 40 percent are a realistic scenario.” With this model, the owners of renewable energy plants will pay only those specific services for technical and commercial management that they explicitly request. Clients can choose from a total of 29 service modules, and all modules can be combined as desired. Services will be invoiced per hours of service provided. In addition, a price cap for every single service request per selected module will apply once the previously agreed-upon time limit has been reached. First and foremost, this new offer by Kaiserwetter was the result of new specifications defined by the “2017 Renewable Energies Act.” “With the new tender model, the market economy has finally reached our industry. From now on, all players on the market along the value chain must cut costs to keep returns on investments up since feed-in tariffs will decrease dramatically,” said Mr. Schoklitsch, adding that “our new pricing model saves considerable amounts of money on the operating side while providing a reliable calculation basis with our specified caps for each module service package. This improves budgeting and cost calculation for tender participants and gives them more investment safety, independently of the park’s production unit performance.” The 2017 Renewable Energies Act stipulates that in the case of new wind or solar plants, only those investors who issue the least expensive quote, that is, who request the lowest possible subsidies, will be considered. Operating expenses play an important role because they are the only elements that investors can adjust directly to influence the return of their wind and solar parks. “But only if they choose to work with independent service providers who offer a customized pricing model,” added Mr. Schoklitsch. The details of the new service model are as follows: Service on Demand Unlike the previous generalized pricing models, we offer need-based services, i.e. Kaiserwetter provides technical services on demand. For technical management, this innovation means that all services in a standardized module can be used as required. These will be adapted specifically to every energy park and will not be charged on a flat-fee basis as had previously been the norm. Pay for actually provided services These specifically defined services will be charged by actually provided services and on an hourly basis. This will allow our clients to adapt the services they use as needed and to react to any events in their production unit. With this approach, clients will continue to have full flexibility to manage their OPEX in an effort to achieve the maximum return on their assets. Capped management fee In addition to charging only for provided services, the Kaiserwetter concept includes a capped fee per year. This prevents clients from going over budget altogether and ensures the necessary degree of transparency. In addition, a maximum amount will be defined for every module/every service package to avoid exceptional “outliers.” The benefits associated with this new model for energy park owners are obvious: instead of spending up to four percent of electricity proceeds on operating expenses as they did before, Kaiserwetter’s service on demand will give clients arrangements adapted to their needs. According to Hanno Schoklitsch, “every wind and solar park is different and that fact should be reflected by the amount of operating expenses.” By the way: the new offer is not only tailored to energy parks built in accordance with the specifications of the 2017 Renewable Energies Act. “It goes without saying that our innovative service approach is also available for existing plants which will allow clients to capitalize on “undisclosed reserves” at existing plants,” said Mr. Schoklitsch.
